Saturn was born from a simple idea. It was created to help a single student manage their schedule in an easy and interactive way.

Our Story

No student should consider calendaring their greatest challenge. When co-founder Dylan Diamond was in high school, many students struggled to manage their schedules, homework, and activities. Their school’s rotating block schedule made this all the more challenging.

Dylan built a mobile app to help the students of Staples High School take control of their schedules. The app exploded in popularity, and years later, is still used daily by almost all the school's students.
‍
As Wharton sophomores at the University of Pennsylvania, Dylan met fellow entrepreneur and Saturn co-founder Max Baron. The two quickly saw an opportunity to help millions of students facing similar challenges. In November 2018, they officially launched Saturn, and by school-year’s end, supported more than 50 schools across the Northeast.

Saturn is now venture-backed and expanding to schools throughout the country.

The Beginning
Co-founder Dylan, a then high school sophomore, launches an app to manage his rotating schedule and keep up to date with friends at Staples High School.

Co-Founders Meet
Dylan meets Max at the University of Pennsylvania and brings him on to help bring the app to new schools.

Saturn Expands
Saturn grows to more than 50 schools across the Northeast.

#ICANHELP

#ICANHELP educates and empowers you and fellow students to delete negativity and use social media positively. Saturn partners with #ICANHELP to mentor students, participate in events, and help the organization continue to spread positivity throughout the US.

#ICANHELP, a nonprofit organization, was created by a group of teachers to encourage users to utilize technology in a positive manner instead of fearing it. Through presentations, school curriculum, online and offline training, and staff development, #ICANHELP has trained over 400,000 students who took down over 1,000 pages dealing with harassment, impersonation, and bullying.

#ICANHELP hosts the annual #Digital4Good awards. The #Digital4Good conference celebrates those who are using digital tools to help others. As a supporting partner, Saturn will be in attendance, working to help award winners increase the reach of their projects.

ConnectSafely

ConnectSafely is widely known as a nonprofit organization that educates technology users on important issues, including safety, privacy, and security. They offer news, guides, and information for you and your parents.

Saturn and ConnectSafely share a belief in the power of technology to create positive change.ConnectSafely also raises awareness to critical online safety and privacy issues as the U.S. organizer of Safer Internet Day, a global celebration that takes place on the second Tuesday of each February.
‍
Saturn and ConnectSafely partner to provide to students and parents of teenagers informational guides covering a wide-range of online activities and issues, including privacy, combatting cyberbullying, and discrimination.

Crisis Text Line

Saturn’s efforts to create a safe and supportive environment for students led us to partner with Crisis Text Line. 
‍
‍Crisis Text Line provides cost-free, 24/7 text support to those in crisis by trained volunteers. As featured in Teen Vogue, Crisis Text Line counselors have processed over 10,000,000 messages to date. Their trained Crisis Counselors help people in crisis by listening to their needs and providing comfort and support.

All Tech is Human

As a member of the All Tech is Human community, Saturn works alongside technologists, academics, advocates, policymakers, organizational leaders, students, artists, designers, and others to move toward a more thoughtful technological future.

All Tech Is Human believes that we have a tech problem that calls for a societal solution. The organization’s ambitious goal is to alter the "politics of technology" by making it more inclusive, multidisciplinary, and participatory. They work toward this goal by convening events, promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing, and gaining valuable insight into how we can better approach challenging tech/society issues.
